BARR Program

Supporting 9th Grade Student Success

Welcome 9th Grade BARR Students,

All 9th grade students at Banning High School are part of the BARR Program: Building Assets, Reducing Risks. This program is designed to ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

What is the BARR Program?

The BARR Program connects students with a team of teachers, counselors, program coordinators, and administrators who work together to support each student’s individual needs. The goal is to build strong relationships, identify challenges early, and create a positive high school experience for every student.

How the Program Works

Teacher Teams
Your Math, English, and Biology teachers work in collaborative teams. These teams meet twice a week to review the progress, needs, and successes of students they have in common.

Risk Review Team
When support beyond the classroom is needed, your name may be brought to the Risk Review Team. This team includes counselors, mental health therapists, and administrators who work together to recommend personalized interventions.

Focused Student Support
Every student is valued. The BARR Program ensures students are seen, heard, and supported through consistent communication and intentional intervention when needed.

Why BARR Matters

BARR is not just about academics—it’s about the whole student. This program helps identify strengths, address concerns early, and build a safe, inclusive school culture that fosters growth, confidence, and success.

Let’s Move Forward – Bronco Strong

The BARR Program is just the beginning of your high school journey. With support from your team, you’ll build a strong foundation for the years ahead.
