Banning High School Celebrates the Class of 2026 at Commencement Ceremony

Surrounded by family members, friends, educators, alumni, and community supporters, Banning High School celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026 during its Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Banning High School Athletic Stadium. Hundreds gathered to honor the accomplishments of the graduating class and recognize the journey that brought each student to this milestone.

Banning USD Celebrates Student Achievement at “Night of the Stars” Dinner

Banning Unified School District proudly celebrated outstanding student achievement during the annual Night of the Stars Student of the Year Dinner held on Monday, May 18, 2026. Organized by the Student of the Month Committee, the annual celebration recognized students for their academic excellence, leadership, perseverance, service, and positive contributions to their school communities.

Banning High School Art Show Celebrates Student Creativity and Honors Top Artists

Banning High School hosted its annual Art Show on April 23 in the school library, welcoming students, families, and community members for an evening celebrating creativity, artistic expression, and student achievement.The top honor, Best in Show, was awarded to Paige DeRuiter, a 12th-grade student, for her acrylic painting Snow Forest, which was created as part of a winter-themed project. Her piece earned first place and a $50 prize and was marked as sold during the event, demonstrating strong community engagement and support for student artists.

Banning High School Broadway Broncos Shine in The Lion King Jr. Production

The Banning High School Broadway Broncos delivered an outstanding theatrical experience with their recent production of The Lion King Jr., held at the Banning High School Performing Arts Center. Banning High School’s Thomas Carr Makes Historic Return to CIF State Championships

For the first time in 16 years, Banning High School returned to the statewide stage in cross country. Over Thanksgiving break, senior Thomas Carr made school history by qualifying for and competing in the 2025 CIF State Cross Country Championships, becoming the first Bronco since 2009 to race among California’s elite.

Freedom Writers Inspire Banning High School Students to Share Their Stories

The Banning High School Performing Arts Center was filled with emotion, reflection, and hope on November 5, 2025, as students experienced a powerful presentation from Erin Gruwell—founder of the Freedom Writers Foundation—and one of her former students, Freedom Writer Tony Becerra.

Erin Gruwell, whose story inspired the acclaimed book The Freedom Writers Diary and its film adaptation Freedom Writers, shared her message that “every student has a story to write and a story to tell.” Her visit brought this message to life as she encouraged Banning High School students to find strength and identity through their own stories.

Banning USD Honors November Students of the Month

Banning Unified School District proudly recognizes two extraordinary students as November Students of the Month. Honorees Mary Britto from Banning High School and Jasmine Verduzco from New Horizons High School were celebrated for their leadership, perseverance, and dedication to excellence during a special recognition event on November 4, 2025.

“We are incredibly proud to celebrate Mary and Jasmine, two students who exemplify the heart of Banning Unified,” said Superintendent Terrence Davis. “Their leadership, resilience, and compassion reflect the promise and potential we strive to nurture in every student.”

Banning High School Marching Bronco Regiment Earns Top Honors in State Competitions

The Banning High School Marching Bronco Regiment has been making waves across Southern California this season, earning top recognition in the California State Band Championships circuit.

So far this season, the Regiment has earned three first-place trophies, along with High Percussion and High Color Guard awards at each competition they have attended. Their 2025 field show, titled “Machines,” has impressed judges and spectators alike with its creativity, precision, and powerful performance.
