Classroom Communication

Teachers and classroom staff use ParentSquare to share information that is specific to your student's classroom or learning experience.

Examples: classroom reminders, assignments or activities, field trips, classroom events, and teacher updates.

School Site Communication

Your student's school uses ParentSquare for information that applies to the school community or specific groups of students and families.

Examples: principal updates, school events, schedule information, activities, reminders, and campus announcements.

District Communication

Banning Unified School District uses ParentSquare for information that applies across the District or requires broader communication with families.

How Will I Receive ParentSquare Messages?

ParentSquare can deliver communications through multiple channels. If all options are available and enabled for your account, you may receive the same communication by email, text message, and app notification.

Email

Communications can be delivered to the email address associated with your student information in Aeries.

Text Message

Communications can be delivered by text message to the mobile phone number associated with your student information in Aeries.

App Notification

If you have the ParentSquare mobile app installed and notifications enabled on your device, communications can also appear as app notifications.

Why did I receive the same message more than once?

This is expected. If email, text messaging, and app notifications are all available for your account, ParentSquare may deliver the same communication through each method. This helps ensure important information reaches families.

ParentSquare & Aeries Work Together

ParentSquare uses the parent and guardian contact information maintained in the District's Aeries student information system. The email address and phone number associated with your student in Aeries determine the contact information available to ParentSquare.

If your email address or phone number changes, please contact Student Services to update your information in Aeries. Updating your District student record helps ensure you continue receiving school and District communications.

Understanding Your Notification Preferences

ParentSquare allows families to choose how frequently they receive eligible routine posts. Families can select Instant or Digest based on how they prefer to receive regular communications.

Instant

Select Instant to receive eligible ParentSquare posts as they are sent.

Instead of waiting for a daily summary, regular classroom, school, and District posts are delivered throughout the day.

Best for: Families who want to receive regular ParentSquare communications as soon as they are posted.

Digest

Select Digest to have eligible routine ParentSquare posts grouped together into a daily summary.

Digest can reduce the number of individual notifications you receive while keeping routine classroom, school, and District information together.

Best for: Families who prefer fewer individual notifications for routine communications.

General & Emergency Announcements

To have access to ParentSquare communications through your District student record, parents and guardians need to have General & Emergency Announcements selected in the applicable notification preferences in Aeries.

Families are encouraged to keep this option selected so they can receive important classroom, school, and District communications.

When Will I Receive a Phone Call?

Banning USD primarily uses email, text message, and ParentSquare app notifications for regular school and District communications. Phone calls are reserved for specific purposes.

Attendance Auto-Notices

Families may receive automated phone calls related to student attendance. These calls are generated to provide applicable attendance notifications to families.

Emergency Communications

Outside of automated attendance notifications, the District uses phone calls when communicating an emergency that requires immediate attention from families.

Important: Please keep your current phone number on file with the District so you can receive attendance auto-notices and emergency communications when needed.
